Happy Birthday Mum!

Oh dear - postman hasn't delivered birthday cards in time! Always the danger of having your birthday just before christmas.  Here's some pictures of what you should have received this morning.

Mens cards

A dreaded Man card again!

These cards are for my Brother in Law.  I was looking for a fun image for the kids to send to "Uncle" but couldn't really find very much.  Then found this fun character (BiL is a plasterer!), then had the idea of having him plastering a birthday cake.  Another quick google search found a cake that could be altered to be suitable.

I have used copics for the colouring and jazzed up with glossy accents. The little sentiment banner was hand drawn and stamped.

Second card was this lovely harbour scene from the LaPashe Big One CD.  Instead of decoupaging it as it was designed on the CD (and because I needed to post it!) I altered the main image slightly in photoshop, adding a filter and feathering the edges.  I then masked around the image and sprayed with Iridescent Spray and Sparkle.  The background was stamped with the Visible Image Crackled Background and weathered wood distress ink. Also used Papermania linen look card and card candy coloured with copics to compliment.

Nephew's 11th Birthday

The brief from my sister was - something Minecraft or GTA5 (grand theft auto!!) themed.  Oh dear I don't like boys cards!

I did Minecraft last year so thought I'd investigate the GTA idea.  Unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about these games.  A quick google didn't initially help.  After some searching the only thing I could come up with was to use the box cover as a starting point.
After searching for a suitable free font this is what I came up with:

The second card I used a digi stamp (from digisparkle) coloured with copics and gel pen.  The card base was stamped with a  Visible Image background stamp and coloured with distress inks.

Get Well Card

This card was for a friend from work who had a baby in the summer but has been unwell recently and was in hospital last weekend suffering from scepticemia.  Really hope she's up and about soon.

This card uses a fab image from Birds Cards.  I have coloured it in with Copics and mounted on some papermania textured card and paper from Melody Ross, Lydia collection.

I have also used some paper flowers and candi coloured, both coloured with my copics.

Wedding Card

This card is for one of Hubby's work colleagues who is getting married this weekend.

Vellum on the centre panel has a glittered flower design but unfortunately it doesn't show up very well on the photo.

21st Birthday Card

Trying to make a 21st birthday card for my Nephew's girlfriend has taken ages.  I was trying to make something different to my usual girly style card but my first attempt ended up in the bin after my Daughter made a hmmm sound and said why didn't I just stick to my normal sort of card which she preferred.  So back to the craft room after dinner and this one was much quicker to make!  If I feel brave I might add a pic of the binned one later!

Stamp was from Fizzy Moon - I quite like this stamp as it's really easy to personalise a card quite subtly.  Coloured with Copics.  Frames were cut using Sizzix Eclips and eCAL and nesties on Big Shot.

Thanks for looking.

Lime and Black

Here's my second card for the Less is More LIME & BLACK Challenge (No. 114).  Felt it was a bit plain when I first did it with just the border and sentiment but feel better now I've added the butterfly.
Border was created with Coredinations Whitewash card stock embossed with Tied Together embossing folder and small black gems from stash added then mounted onto black card.  Sentiment from a Paula Pascual set.  Butterfly cut on Sizzix Eclips with svg file from Birds Cards.  Stardust stamp from Korean Rubber Stamp DIY Tin Box Set Flower Fairy.

Thanks for looking.

Easter Break

I had promised myself some crafting time over the Easter Holidays, but here we are heading towards the end of our two week break and I've not really spent the time I thought I would have done crafting.  I have though managed to complete a couple of cards for a challenge.  The current challenge on Less is More is LIME & BLACK (Challenge no  114).  A bit out of my comfort zone but I thought I'd give it a go.
Small square card - 4"
Papermania Textured Card - lime and black
Sentiment is Paula Pascual All Year Round stamped in black
small punched flowers with black gem centres
die cut flourish - sorry not idea of make, need to keep a record of these things when I throw the packets out!!

Although fairly simple I quite liked the end result.

Have made a second one for this challenge but think I might add something else to it before I post as it looks just a bit too plain at the moment.

Mother's Day Card

Hopefully now my work hours have been reduced I might get some time to make more cards and at least upload those that I have managed to make since the new year!

It was Mother's Day in the UK last weekend and this is the card I made for my lovely mum.

I cut the shaped card on my Sizzix Eclips using a template from www.birdscards.com.  (note to self - must use card with coloured core - this was white and slightly spoilt the end result!).  The iris stamp is, I think, from papermania, coloured with Copics, and highlighted with stardust sakura pen.  Pearl gems to finish off.  Sentiment was printed on computer.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
A Gem of a Challenge - Floral Frenzy
Totally Gorjuss Challenge 174 - For Mum
Incy Wincy Designs Challenge - Things that begin with F (Flower)

Happy New Year - 2013!

Happy New Year !

The end of 2012 was unexpectedly busy as I am now working part time in the local primary school, so I haven't been crafting as much as I would have liked, even struggled to get my christmas cards done - will hopefully post some pics later this week.  I will have to try and organise myself better in 2013.

With OH back at work today I took myself off to make a card for a friend's birthday.  Using the challenge sketch on the Sketch Saturday website this was my effort:
Dandelion stamps from Lavinia Stamps
Swirl Circle Die from Marianne Design Creatables
Butterfly Die from Joy Crafts
Distress Ink - Tumbled Glass
Paper - Melody Ross, Lydia collection
Sentiment - Personal Impressions (I think!!)
Gems and ribbon from stash

I will be entering this into the following challenges:
