After the summer holidays!

Ok time to start some serious card making, have let it slip quite alot while the children have been home from school but really need to get going again especially as Christmas will be with us much too soon.

First card this week is a "Thinking of you" for my Mother In-Law to wish her a speedy recovery for the hip replacement op yesterday.

Stamps (orchid and pot) were from a sheet of clear stamps but I've no idea what they are (think they were papermania!) were coloured with Copics.  Pot stamped and coloured a second time and decoupaged.  White Candi coloured with copic to match image.  Coredinations card stock and whitewash and paper from stash.  Thinking of you stamp - Paula Pascual Mixed Sentiments sheet.

I have used this week's Sketch Saturday sketch #223 for inspiration so will be entering it into their challenge.
Thank you for looking.

Thank you card

Using this weeks Sketch Saturday challenge sketch, #212, I created this thank you card for my children to send to a family friend to say thanks (belatedly!! oops!) for their birthday and easter money.  First time I have used this free digi image from Saturated Canary and I think the first time I've used my copics to do blonde hair - I was quite pleased with the results.

All the rain we've  been having has encouraged me to get my Dad's Father's day card done early this week instead of leaving it til the last minute!!

Took inspiration from this week's Sketch Saturday Challenge sketch.  Image is from the La Pashe Big One cd.  Papers - coredinations and some scraps from my stash (means I can't remember!).

An earful of music

My daughter has reached that age where she spends her whole life with headphones attached to her head in her own little world of music.  This cute kitten image (from Sliekje's Digi Stamps) is perfect for her and her friends.
Coloured with Copics (and a pink gel pen for the headphones), patterned papers are from Melody Ross - Lydia collection.  Stamped sentiment was Personal Impressions.  I drew the musical notes onto white pearl candi and added small pearls to the pink mirri semi circles.

Will be entering this into the following challenges:

Another call for a 15th girly card and chocolate bouquet

My lovely daughter informed me 2 days ago that there was another of her friends celebrating her 15th birthday and could I make a card and another chocolate bouquet!  Luckily I had enough card and chocolates left over from the one I made earlier in the week, so for ease decided to replicate the bouquet.  The card was made using a free digi stamp from Little Claire called "tween girl shopping".  Coloured with copics.  I used the current challenge sketch on the "Sketch Saturday" blog for the layout.  Papers were from the Tatty Teddy Me to You Spring Chic and Co-ordinations Montego Bay.  I coloured white satin ribbon with copics pens as I didn't have the right colour, the flower ribbon was from my stash.
Challenges: Sketch Saturday Week #208

The chocolate bouquet box was made using pearlescent card from The Range, and included Twirls, Flake, Dairy Milk and Freddo's.  Yellow curling ribbons was used with the purple box to complement the Cadbury colour scheme.  Both girls this week have seemed very impressed with their gifts.

Moooo!

Another 15th birthday, for Sarah's friend Beth this time - and another cry of "Mum can you make a card and another chocolate bouquet".  Beth has a Gluten Free diet so a quick check on the internet reveals that some Cadbury choc bars are gluten free - thank goodness!  I do like making these - will maybe have to think about setting up a business making them.  Anyway the colours of the choc bars decided the box and decoration colour on this one.
I also know that Beth likes cows, so set about using eCal and Sizzix Eclips and made a cow shaped card.  Plain white 300gsm card edged with distress ink, and some scraps of pink and black.  Simple but I hope quite effective.  Used white gel pen to highlight the black areas.

Two Birthdays - 50th and 15th

Sarah's best friend Izzy had her 15th Birthday recently.  With no idea what to buy her Sarah suggested a chocolate bouquet but with Moam's as she knew Izzy loved them.  To make it a bit more interesting we incorporated a little teddy.  Had a slight mishap whilst sticking the sweets/chocs to the sticks.  After carefully attaching with hot glue I left them on the desk in my craft room to dry only to find, 20 minutes later - after making the box, that the sun had melted most of the chocolate bars into a mushy mess!! Oh no! Managed to salvage a few and topped up with extra sweets.

On the same day, we had been invited to a 50th Birthday celebration for one of Hubby's colleagues.  With no real idea of what gift to get, thought I'd have another go at a "Sucks" novelty gift.  This time I used a "blackboard mug" instead of a box and filled it with 50 mini Chupa Chups.  Made a "50 sucks" topper with eCAL and Sizzix Eclips and spent ages attaching and curling ribbon to each of the lollies!  I was really pleased with the result and the recipient was delighted and it ended up being taken the italian restaurant with us all and used as a table centre piece!  It certainly attracted a bit of attention.
This was my second attempt at one of these - first one was for my cousin's 40th a couple of weeks ago.  Similar design buy using a box and normal sized lollies.

As a keen golfer I wanted to make a fun golf themed card.  The "what a swing" digi stamp came from Karen's Doodle and was coloured with copics. Papers were from a digi kit called "just my type" by Everyday Mom Ideas.

50th for a Forum Friend

I love the sketches on the Sketch Saturday Challenge Blog and thought I could use the current one as inspiration for a 50th Birthday card.As I don't personally know the lady I wanted to keep it fairly simple and flowery!

Papers are from Melody Ross - Lydia collection and the numbers are cut out using Sizzix Eclips and ECAL Software.  Embellished with peel-off sentiment, die cut butterfly, gems and card candi.

More Sweet Things!

Sarah's 15th Birthday!  Having made a chocolate bouquet for Stephen's birthday last week it was only fair to do one for Sarah - so with a change to just chocolates I came up with this one.  Had to make the box as I couldn't find anything suitable to buy in the timescale I left myself!!  Really pleased with it - think practice is making it better and easier.

I made a chocolate bouquet for my son's birthday last week and everybody said they loved it.  Daughter then decided that one of her friends has a birthday (today) so could I make one for her.

Teenager Card

Making male cards never gets any easier!  All my son's friends are turning 13 this school year and he informed me this morning it was one of their birthdays today.  I know I should be prepared and have some made in advance but it just doesn't happen.  Was pleased with todays attempt.  Using a silhouette of a skateboarder I traced it in ECAL and cut it with my Sizzix Eclips in Silver Mirri and mounted on a piece of card that I embossed with the Sunburst Folder and sanded.  Also used the Eclips to cut the word Teenager and finished with silver card candi.
Challenge - I am entering this card into the following challenges
